The molecular mechanisms of zygotic genome activation (ZGA) in plants have been the subject of study and debate for over a decade. Recent results obtained in our laboratory showed that in Arabidopsis, post-fertilization paternal allele activation varies between genes, and that paternal allele activation kinetics can be greatly influenced by hybridization.

So far, we’ve only sampled a small amount of the possible diversity in intraspecific Arabidopsis hybrids. I'm interested in determining the full extent of diversity in parent-of-origin gene regulation among a wide spectrum of Arabidopsis intraspecific hybrids.
